The Upstate Baseball League was formed to provide an end of the summer opportunity to play baseball in a professional, fun environment. The league will offer a full month of games where each team will play 8 regular season games. Playoff format will be decided based on league format.

Pickin’ Splinters will cover the league, teams, and players on a nightly basis throughout the season.

The league fee for the 2023 Upstate Baseball League will be $395. There will be a $25 non-refundable fee to register which will be used towards the evaluation.  The league fee of $395 is separate from the evaluation fee and will be collected when selected for a team. See league details below.

The Upstate Baseball League will begin its season Tuesday, August 8, 2023 and will be completed the week of August 28.  Tryouts will take place on Tuesday August 1, 2023 prior to the season. The league accepts only individual player registrations and teams are formed through a draft. DIVISIONS:

Division I:

This division is designed for players who intend to play college baseball in the very near future. In addition, players who will be playing varsity the next spring will be considered. Players in this division will typically fall in grades 10-12.  This division will include a tryout, a practice, and 8 regular season games. Playoffs will be decided based on league format and are not guaranteed for each team.

Division II:

This division is designed for the travel level player who aspires to play varsity baseball in the future. Typically, these players fall in grades 9-10 with advanced 8th graders also accepted. Players in this division should have an above average skill set. This division will include a tryout, a practice, and 8 regular season games. Schedule  will be decided based on registration.

The majority of games will be played at TBD.

The league is built around balance. Teams typically play 2-3 games per week, with the majority of games played on weeknights. The season will be completed the week of August 28.

All players must apply to tryout. In an effort to create competitive balance, teams are formed through a draft. If selected, players will have the opportunity to participate with players from different schools from all over the region. In the past, players have represented more than 50 different schools. We believe that in order for players to improve they must play consistently. Therefore, rosters in the Upstate Baseball League are relatively small. Batters will get consistent at-bats and pitchers will get consistent innings without being over-used. Our policy is "fair playing time",  which means that a player who has a good attitude, is committed, gives 100% effort, and is a good teammate, will earn a similar amount as the rest of the players. The league is designed to finish up the summer baseball season in a professional environment dedicated to helping a player improve, while showcasing their skills and having some fun!

Our coaches are focused on teaching the finer points of the game and developing a fun and competitive atmosphere.  All of our coaches are carefully selected and all share our vision. COMMITMENT:We also believe that there must be a balance for players in the summer.  The league is only a 2-3 day per week commitment. This gives families plenty of free time to enjoy August!

Pickin’ Splinters will cover the Upstate Baseball League with in-game social media, multi-media, player spotlights, top performers, and game recaps.
